I can always *always* tell if people Im dealing with in work and other contexts are coming from a place of competition or a place of cooperation. The former have a tight, almost paranoid energy around them. It is such a fallacy that if you hold tight to your turf, you will preserve more for yourself. The reality is that generosity begets abundance, always, without exception. Its one of the first rules of life: What you want for yourself, give away. Give your ideas, give your money, give your love, give your time, give your attention. It always comes back tenfold, a brilliant and wildly successful person I interviewed last week told me. If youre feeling tight around other peoples successes or needs, dont judge yourself too harshly. Just remain conscious of the feeling, when it comes up and where it arises in your body. And do your best to breathe some air into the tightness. And do things to spite the ego that creates that tightness. Send the people you begrudge good wishes. Support their projects. Be helpful behind the scenes. Screw the ego and all the problems it creates.
