I can have children, obviously. It is a lovely thing to love something growing inside of you, something you helped to create. A bundle of growing, replicating, cells. But just imagine that you can not conceive, and all you dream about are the things that other parents complain about. Getting up a million times a night to feed and cuddle, being startled at the silence of a toddler, the impending doom of their separation from you, no more hugs and macaroni necklaces, dues to pay off for school and college to pay for. So all of the crap that many of us take for granted, they want. They see small clothes and their insides melt. Adoption is not about picking out a designer Asian, or African child. It is about loving someone so much,someone you have never seen, someone you would do anything for. Just as amazing as waiting 40 or so weeks for a cry and balled up fists. If I can believe that my children chose me, in some mystical way, then imagine how amazing it would feel for a child to be chosen and loved as a thought way before being placed into the embrace of their parent(s). Adoptive parents wait far longer than forty weeks for their forever love... they may not have been chosen by some mystical childs soul but they certainly are no different than biological parents
