I can never understand why people get so upset with WTOC-TV when we CAN NOT broadcast the Atlanta Falcons. We would if we could! A) They would be on FOX to begin with. Were not the ones showing Detroit Lions vs New England Patriots Today. (The only small chance we would have of showing the game is when they play against an AFC team, like today with the Cleveland Browns.) B) But with that said, we still wouldnt be able to broadcast them today because the CBS and AFC agreement, and today we have the Jacksonville Jaguars playing the Indianapolis Colts. We are obligated to show the Jaguars first. Dont blame us, blame the NFL. Does it suck, yes, but, this has been the same rule in effect since the 1970s. (Although, in the 70s, 80s & early 90s CBS had the Contract with the NFC, NBC had the AFC, but then the NFL sold the NFC package to FOX, and CBS bought the AFC package, I Believe in 1994, so by now this should not really be a surprise to anyone) Business wise - dont you think WTOC would love to show all of your favorite shows, if we could, like American Idol or Scandal or Saturday Night Live as well, but they are not on our Network. We can only show you legally, during certain time periods, what CBS National Programming provides.
