I can only imagine Mike Brown n Trayvon Martin mothers pain! I look at Tonio and instantly be reminded of what happened to his daddy cause he was done wrong by the police yrs ago! But I also be fearful of letting him go outside n go places with his friends because of things that take place in this world! I often find myself holding him accountable for his dad situation and the Mike Browns of the world! Cause my flesh gets in the way! I be wanting to keep him in the house cause he looks like a grown man instead of a 14 yr old n I dont want the police to mistake him for someone else! I be on him about hanging out in large groups of kids n hanging with the wrong crowd so he cant be a statistic. And its not fair! My son should be able to be himself n be a kid with no worries! I should be able to trust that he can go out n have the childhood I had with no worries of getting gunned down or wrongfully accused! I should be able to let my kids go a couple of blocks over n play with friends! I should be able to trust that the law will protect n watch him n not judge him! I should be able to let him walk to school n not worry bout him being black n not looking like the wrong brother to the cops! I should be able to have a peace of mind knowing that I raised him right n things happen thats not always in his control! I should be able to let my ChILD BE A CHILD IN PEACE!! But since I live in AMERICA WHERE ALL MY THOUGHTS ARE DREAMS, guess Im gone have to keep praying to God to keep him safe!!
