I can only see life as a reflection of what I am myself. If I think life is beautiful, it is because I carry beauty within me. And if I think life has no meaning, it is because I am limited and ignorant. This is why my opinion about life differs so much with the one of others … In fact it remains unintelligible to most of them. How often do I hear me saying: ‘Well my friend, what do I expect? Such is life!’ And if I as a man feel unwell, unhappy, bankrupt, cheated on by my wife … do I say: ‘That’s life.’? And any time something negative happens do I say: ‘That’s life!’? But which life am I referring to? There are so many different lives. There is the life of a toad, a wild boar, a crocodile and there is the life of a dove, of an angel, of God. If I express an opinion about life I can only do so at my own level.
