I can remember 9/11 like it was yesterday. I remember my teacher stopping in the middle of the class, and starting to cry. I remember how frantic the school was, the news was on every TV. All anyone could think - How could this happen? It was happening right across the river. I remember lining up on the blacktop with the other children to wait for our parents, and when the parents came, it was either all hugs and tears, or on the phone frantically trying to call their loved ones who worked in or around the twin towers. I remember my mother being on the phone with my godmother, my godfather worked there. A miraculous thing happened - He woke up for work late that day. I remember the confusion, the panic, and the scar it left on the people. To all of those who died, lived, and all of the firefighters, police, random good people who just wanted to help, we salute you, we respect you, and we will never, ever forget you.
