I can so relate to feeling the smile come back regularly and feeling giddy. I can also relate to the lack of emotional compression. Also I do not set limitation on my meditation time. I take time now to meditate every night before bed, sitting in half lotus, back straight and I visualize cleansing my chakras. It helps tremendously. Some nights I will use the big crystal I have on the porch and touch each chakra as I go through them. Other nights I may just let the crystal rest on my feet. Time isnt a constant...some nights its a simply 5 minute journey other nights its longer but I allow my body and heart to speak to me about how long. However I do it has become a nightly practice and I am enjoying the peace (and the return of my smile; reminding me of the love I hold for myself) immensely. I smiled more in the month of July than I had in many months before. I woke up with an unexplained giddiness, this strange excitement that I couldnt identify. My thoughts and emotions felt less compressed, like there was more air in between everything.
