I can still remember the day I discovered that I had been - TopicsExpress

I can still remember the day I discovered that I had been suffering with depression for virtually all of my life. One morning 10 years ago I woke up and got online and ran across an article about depression which included a test. After reading the article I took the test which had 20 questions. Each question was an indicator. Of the 20 indications I had 18 of them. Instead of dread I felt the most profound peace, vindication and sense of self awareness that Id ever experienced in my life. I wasnt crazy (well...lol) and I wasnt stupid or weak, I just had a challenge. There after I booked two therapy sessions. I ended up attending one. The therapist was really good and he explained to me that our sessions would basically be guided by me and he would merely help me to uncover my issues and suggest paths to healing. When I left I asked myself honestly; do you need someone to help you be honest with yourself and to love yourself? Do you need someone to help you be patient with yourself? My honest answer was and is sometimes bit not all the time and the awareness of what Im dealing with has given me the upper hand. So for me, and Im not saying that this would work for everyone, we are all different, all I really needed was to know. Now, and truthfully it is rare, when I start feeling those feelings, I have trained myself to look them in the eye and give them a head butt, right cross and an uppercut! My motivation in sharing this is the tragic case of Robin Williams, my love for the Lord who has set me free, my love for you and my appreciation for myself and who God has called me to be. CHOOSE LIFE, LOVE GOD, LOVE YOURSELF, LOVE OTHERS AND REPEAT EVERYDAY! To God be all the glory!!
