I can´t help but wonder what inspires the stories that people write. Phil, being one of my all time favorite writers must go for lots of walks, see lots of ancient monuments and talk to lots of people to get his ideas. Recently the wolf has returned to Denmark. Not without problems, but splitting the people up in those that see the animal as good or bad, as in the past evil (anti Christ), and others as good (Mother wolf=mother earth). There are many Norse mythologies about the wolf, and it got me wondering if there were stories of wolves on the English/ Welsh border.I did find one about the hound Gelert that gets blamed for killing a baby, but actually killed the wolf that killed the baby. Anyway, enjoy this Swedish duo singing beautifully a song full of symbolism, that would make me write if I had the time.....As Hogwash tells it: In Swedish mythology, outlaws, wrongdoers, misfits etc were sent into the woods, to be prey for the wolves. If you came out the other side you were ok if you didnt you became a wolf . Ever heard of the term Wolfshead? Its common in Saxon. Meaning an Outlaw. As for the images, they illustrate the song, and it is also an ecological message, about man being the actual Warg. In that we are the ones destroying the enviroment, not the wolves. As for the image behind them, as far as I can see it, it could be Isis, the Great Mother, patron of Nature, the wrongly accused, sinners, magic and witchcraft Fits with the Outlaws theme doesnt it? So to me, when it burns at the end, they are saying we are killing our mother Goddess, ie Earth.youtube/watch?v=Czj7SyPNRto
