I cannot even imagine the horror of having to hide to save your life and the life of your children because a group has decided your religion makes you less than human and unworthy to live. Imagine the only way to avoid torture and death is to leave your home, everything youve worked for, everything and every one you love. Imagine thrusting your child into a strangers arms, not knowing if youll be able to follow, knowing you might be forcing him to become an orphan, but knowing if you dont take the chance, hell likely become an orphan anyway, if he even survives. Imagine not being able to say I disagree with our government, or I dont like the rulers (president), and the worst of all, not daring to say I love God, or wear a cross, a Star of David, or anything else that would identify your religion. The looks of horror giving way to tears of relief on these faces is heartbreaking. They dont know whats coming, but they know what theyve left. Their futures are filled with uncertainty, but at least there is a future to contemplate.
