I cant believe that we havent gone past this stage where spectators take to the field especially when they disagree with the officials. Our sporting public must be matured enough to understand that the officials are in control of the game, and even the players are subjected to their execution of the rules of the game. So, here we are now, a premature end to a highly anticipated game between Lime Paradise FC and Hard Rock. However, it was good to hear that the players of Paradise though in disagreement with the penalty award were even more upset that spectators took to the field and attempted to clear the field. Its also a lesson for our football officials that they may have underestimated the appetite for football in Grenada. Based on the circumstances and in the interest of fair play and a successful end to the Premier League season, I am calling on the GFA to schedule a re-match of this all-important game and at a neutral venue - preferably the National Stadium! Too much is at stake to allow the tournament to end in this controversial manner. The GFA should also begin the process of re-engaging the communities about the importance of supporting their teams but doing so according to the rules of the game.
