I cant believe this!!! According to the Global Slavery Index report published by the Walk Free Foundation, Ghana is ranked 18th out of 162 countries with the prevalence of modern slavery. Mauritania is the country with the highest prevalence of modern slavery, whilst Iceland has the lowest prevalence of modern slavery. Ghana is ranked better than 11 other African countries - Benin,Cote divoire, Gambia, Gabon, Senegal, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Togo, Cape Verde, Eritrea and Guinea. In this report, Modern Slavery is defined as the possession and control of a person in such a way as to significantly deprive that person of his or her individual liberty, with the intent of exploiting that person through their use, management, profit, transfer or disposal. Usually this exercise will be achieved through means such as violence or threats of violence, deception and/or coercion. The index took into consideration a combination of three factors: estimated prevalence of modern slavery by population, levels of child marriage, and levels of human trafficking into and out of the country. My friends, what do you think about this?
