I cant figure out if the Christies sales of Jean Michel Basquiats works from the Alexis Adler collection went off (some business about a lawsuit), but my daughter began telling me of odd sightings at her regular sleepover locale with one of her bffs years ago, strange writing on the walls, on the radiator, on the doors, over the bed, eventually she caught on, the mommy was Basquiats former girlfriend still living in the space Basquiat did up with his art in the 80s. Looks like some cool pieces, early, pre 1985, Nation of Fools, the American Flag, then thats the door my daughter saw, Famous Negro Athletes (Ill ask her if it was still a door, if she opened and closed it with her sixth grade hands), Olive Oyl over the bed. Particularly like the jumpsuit. But what a great early life art experience, Basquiat on a sleepover....only in New York.
