I cant get enough of the antics of the Tea Party. It is political brinksmanship that needs to go. Here is what a business-oriented Republican has to say: WASHINGTON — The head of the Dallas Regional Chamber, a former Hunt Oil executive with deep ties to the Bush family, has called on business leaders to find their voice within the Republican Party as one step toward ending the stalemate in Washington, where what he called tea party intransigence has shut down the government and put the country at risk of defaulting on its debt. That’s the view of James Oberwetter, who served as spokesman to the elder President Bush and ambassador to Saudi Arabia for President George W. Bush. I spoke to him while working on a story looking at how business-oriented Republicans view the standoff here in the Capitol that is running in Wednesday’s paper. “It would be wrong to hand the keys to the country over to academic and theoretical arguments when we need to take action,” Oberwetter said. “I am not sure what to call the (Tea Party) movement. I do not find any fault with people who organize to advance their point of view. But when a populist view, one that is non-establishment or anti-establishment, becomes so prominent, people in the business community need to voice their views just as loudly as those with whom they disagree.
