I cant quite wrap my head around this . . . back in April, I - TopicsExpress

I cant quite wrap my head around this . . . back in April, I attended a friends birthday party. At that event, we all had to bring something meaningful to give to someone else as a gift. I unwrapped mine in the car and there was a rock with a note attached . . . tears streamed down my face as I read it through. Victoria Alviti was killed tragically in a car accident at the age of 22. The rock was from the site of the crash; the note from her sister. Weeks before shed passed away, Victoria had talked about creating a foundation to keep music programs in schools. That foundation now exists as The Victoria Alviti Music Foundation victoriaalviti.org As I read Victorias story, it reminded me all too clearly of my friend Marcus passing -- hed been killed in a motorcycle accident just six months prior. That note and that rock sat on my desk for months. I knew I wanted to write a response, but I wanted to wait until I had the right words. The other week, I finally replied. Alongside the note, I wrote out a check for $100 dollars for the foundation -- almost without thinking. Turns out, the foundation was holding an event with a raffle. The cost to enter? You guessed it: $100. The top prize: An all-expenses-paid trip to Tuscany. Victorias mother Sharon Hodgkins Alviti entered me for the raffle and last night, the winner was announced. Long story short . . . guess whos going to Tuscany? THIS girl. Ive never won anything like this in my life. Funny how life works, isnt it? And Im guessing Marcus and Victoria are looking down on us and smiling at how all this played out. :)
