I cant say enough about the good work Stacie Ruiz Bingham has done in gathering and organizing these ACOG statements in their laudable efforts to reduce the screamingly outrageous Cesarean rates in the USA. Read each of these. More importantly, insist that your care provider read them, esp is that person is perhaps a male obstetrician over the age of 50...as a group, they often seem to be particularly reluctant to change the way Ive always done things. I esp love the (probably reluctant) admission that the continuous presence of a supportive and knowledgable person (doula, usually) is a powerful tool in reducing a C/S.
