I cant tell if its ramping up or if Im just paying more attention, but the news (and consequently social media feeds) are full of outrageous headlines right now. If you give them a day or two, more information comes to light, but often the damage has already been done: extreme opinions are formed and expressed, whole swaths of people or religions or races have been hurt. There are true atrocities happening here and abroad, but its getting harder and harder to tell whats real and whats not. How can we know the truth, or at least the closest version of it? How can real conversations about these things happen under the circumstances? Im worried they cant. And that is terrifying for the future.
