I cant wait until the ink is dry on the mortgage paperwork for my daughters house. Daniel and I are co-borrowers on it, and when I say that the experience of dealing with this title company has been a nightmare, I am not even kidding. Latest snafu: they typed the name of the CITY they were told I would have my part of the (Fed-Exed) paperwork notarized in, instead of the name of the COUNTY. When my daughter called & informed them of their mistake, they said, Thats why we dont like to do mail-outs. I was freaking out, thinking that since they screwed up, the house closing would be delayed, thus work on the house & moving in would also be delayed. Now, lets see: if Im preparing legal paperwork for something of substantial value--ya know, like a HOUSE-- that will have to be notarized, it seems to me that I would check and double-check what Im writing on the official paperwork, like, for example, I could easily Google the name, ATHENS, and I would see that there IS NO ATHENS COUNTY in the STATE OF TEXAS. Or, hey, I could pay attention when someone calls me and says, My mom will be taking her part of the paperwork to Athens, in HENDERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, to have notarized, since they had to have the county already typed in on the paperwork. BTW, they didnt bother to fill in the state. AND, for some reason, on a few of the pages, they had my name typed twice-- and highlighted twice-- so I signed in both places, right next to each other, in the same section of the paperwork. Then, on some pages, they had a space highlighted at the bottom of the page for me to initial, but on others, they didnt, so I just initialed all of them to be safe. Luckily, processor in OH said that the notary and I were allowed to make changes and initial them so that Daniel and Mandy can complete the closing paperwork tomorrow and be able to begin moving into the house. This snafu is just one more heart attack in a long line of heart attacks since last week, when the people there seem to have lost their minds, trying to change the closing date to FRIDAY of this week, etc, when they have been kept informed the entire time of my daughters itinerary which includes her dads itinerary, which, by the way, does not include staying in Ohio beyond a certain # of days. If youre in Ohio and looking to buy a house, I hope youll PM me so that I can tell you which title company to run like hell from. This week-- and its only Tuesday-- has been nothing but stress so far. Glad this part of it is over!
