I care a lot about gender and diversity issues in tech. There are lots of reasons, but one of them stands out for me: software is in many ways determining the shape of modern civilization. How information is shared, how money is made, how people communicate, how governments are formed, how justice is meted out. It is *categorically unacceptable* that some groups are not represented appropriately at the table, that they cant influence the direction of these issues proportionately to how they are affected. Even the most well-meaning advocates and supporters have much to learn here; its not a well-understood problem, even though its been the subject of more scrutiny of late. (After a meeting on the topic of helping women advance in their careers, Sheryl once pointed out to me that, of 20 people in the room, the two men had been disproportionately active in the conversations. Even when the explicit topic is that its easy for women to get run over, its easy for women to get run over.) I want to see this film made. I want people, including myself, to understand better the forces that keep so many women from being welcome and successful and leaders in the software field. I want this issue to *go the hell away*, for my daughter to enter college and think it was ridiculous that we had to talk so much about the lot of women in software. Maybe you want that too? https://indiegogo/projects/code-debugging-the-gender-gap
