I care for a patient who suffers from a rare blood disease, which leads to a low platelet count, which increases her chances of bleeding. She also has atrial fibrillation, an abnormal heart rhythm, which places her at risk of having a stroke for which we normally use blood thinners, but cant in her. I have watched her in awe for more than fifteen years, each year wondering if she will have a stroke or die of bleeding. But she keeps reassuring me that God has created the perfect balance of diseases for her and that she will be fine.
