I care passionately about education. I believe that it is fundamentally important that all children have the same opportunities whatever their background. As a parent, a governor of a school and a student mentor I know that education can transform lives. Unfortunately the funding formula for schools advantages some areas over others and Cambridgeshire has historically been unfunded. This Government has already taken steps to address this and our area recently received an extra £23.2 million. But there is still more to do. I will be continuing to campaign to ensure our schools get more funds to make sure that the children in our area get the best possible start in life.
