I come home to visit my father Every chance I get. If youre lucky enough to have both your parents or even one, spend as much time as you can with them. When theyre gone in physical form there will be no more holding them, seeing them smile, saying I Love You face to face. My father (a stern Military man) and I had a rough patch up until about 6 yrs ago, til had started 5yrs prior and one day it hit me could I live with myself having him pass away with me being upset with him, even though he did something I didnt think was right So I decided to come to DC unbeknowest to him and knocking on his front door, he opened the door and stood there, he acted like he didnt want to let me in and like he didnt even know who I was (it was at night) He ask me who I was? and I said Im your son, he paused for a second, he let me in and we talked, not about our differences just about life. We talked for an hour and hugged and I left. In the car I cried, not that we finally got together but because of the man I had become in that moment. To be big enuff to reach out even after I felt I was wronged. A few weeks later my uncle told me my father was so happy, with what I did. Sometimes the child has to take the more mature road. You only have one set of parents cherish them, for one day they will only be memories and your heart will beat much easier if you both know there was Love in your hearts before the end came.
