I come to you tonight in a very somber and solemn mood. I have to - TopicsExpress

I come to you tonight in a very somber and solemn mood. I have to report to you on those three “feral” cats that were at the center of a dispute and civil stand-off between Humane Society Personnel and Vero Beach Police Animal Control Officer and a small group of citizens that were caring for these three cats. These three cats have been on our Facebook posts in the last few days, along with their pictures. Let me get right to the point. Two of the cats are dead….euthanized early Friday morning, at a Veterinarian Hospital. The third one was intercepted by the SPCA this morning and saved. He is sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped and licensed. He is under the legal care, custody and control of the SPCA at a foster home. He tested negative for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS, and everything else looked good during his check-up. His name is “Fuzzy” and he is far from the definition of a feral cat. He can be held and handled. He went through a very thorough Vet check-up today and acted better than most house cats I see. He is a very gentle boy, although he does seem very sad that he is suddenly alone. The three of them were siblings….3 years old. They had been living peacefully at the same location for their whole lives, without incident. His brother and sister were not trapped and euthanized by anybody official such as the Humane Society or Animal Control. They were caught by hand, by their caretaker, and taken in to be euthanized. She was not able to catch Fuzzy, which ended up saving is life. The two Caretakers of these three cats made the difficult decision, under extreme duress, to euthanize the three cats. They were terrified for the safety of the cats and made the final decision, as the owners, to keep them from abuse and harm. They loved them very much. This part of the situation is over…..we lost two and saved one, but it is far from over in the legal system. There is going to be some major accountability and legal review, and possible redress. In the next two days, I will be laying out our legal case for your review. We do very much have a legal case relating to these three cats. These three cats count too and their lives did matter. Stay tuned for updates, because I assure you, there will be some major updates. I am too exhausted to get into legal detail tonight, but I promise I will lay our case out very soon for you to review and question. Say a prayer for Fuzzy that he will feel better and make further progress towards full domestication. He deserves and has a responsibility to live a happy life, times three, to honor his brother and sister. God chose this boy to survive and God never makes mistakes. I know this news is very upsetting for you, as it is for me. I promise they will be remembered and justice and change will be achieved in their names.
