I come to you with great news. But before dwelling much on the good news, allow me to pass my condolences to the family, friends and mates of our beloved students who lost their lives. Death be not proud. Yesterday, at Isak Steyl Stadium, we managed to defeat Wits University. The final score is 2-1. We were crowned the champions of USSA Gauteng Football. Indeed, victory loves preparation. For one to be successfull, determination, preparation, hardwork and support are key. The goal of reaching the nationals has been obtained. We will be representing Gauteng at the nationals in december at Durban. Our objective is to win the nationals, and make it to the Varsity Cup. Remember, impossible is nothing. We can do it. I believe. Yesterday was a day that VUT will never forget. Apparently, we were the first crop of players to bring that trophy to our beloved institution. We did it because of being a collective. My boys stood by one another in bad and great times. Remember, Disunited lions are outrun by a limping buffalo. Unity has been a key to our minor success. You wont believe me when I tell you that our management hardly supported us. Our supporters had lost trust and confidence in us. The game that caught everyone by surprise was when we defeated TUT in the semi finals. That was the game that brought back our supporters. Their support was also key to our success. Their presence made a massive difference. I recall our first game against Medunsa. Those guys undermined us because of our statue. We are very short in height, not so big physically but mentally strong and big hearts. They even named us U/12, but after the game, they saluted us and complained that maybe we are not students. We gave them 3 goals and missed close to 10 clear chances. Of this day, they still respect us. Im sure that they are not surprised that we are the champs. I hope, wish and pray that our management will take us serious and give us all the support we need. The talent that we have in our team is very rare. Not many institutions have access to the kind of talent that VUT is exposed to. Vaal University of Technology, where champions meet! I guess it is true that you dont know the value of what you have until it is gone. To support my statements, Ill quote what Simphiwe Mkhonza, Monash University coach once said... VUT has the most talented players you can wish for, but they have poor administration or management, On the other hand, we have superior administration but we dont have quality players. That was after they were beaten 4-1 at Isak Stadium, VUT. We are a great team and we need support from above. On behalf of my teammates, I would like to say Thank You! After such great results and performance, we must firmly remain rooted on the ground. The future is bright and certain.
