I commented on a post of a French Canadian cousin of mine. But I thought Id make a general post, I dont mean to upset any flag wavers but Im in the mood to say it.... Rational discourse in the United States is a quant idea. I mean this in a good way, but i think you Canadians just cannot comprehend the lack of ability for most American to think independently, or god forbid, with recognition of their own pre conceived notions. We generally only hear part of what we want. And I say part because even if we agree to what someone is saying, we still only can sit through a 30 second sound bit. I could go on but it would just be kicking the dead horse. I will bet though, that Im the only one south of the boarder that read your longer posting. I know thats patting myself on the back, but they are thorough, articulate, and interesting. But we dont do that down here. I was at talking to a Government/ Econ teacher today. He said in disgust that no one can grasp complex topics. That is why American government comes down to 1) America is the greatest nation on Earth. 2) the constitution is the greatest document ever written. And 3) American is the only country that is free. They really do teach that...because its easy to say and everyone just nobs their heads. So when you, much like Noam Chomsky, which is a compliment, take three paragraphs to get warmed up and set the background for your conclusions...youve just lost most people raised in this nation.
