I comnented this on Harley Quins recent post and I thought I would share it here. To give a little context, she was wondering if she was wrong in thinking that many people around her are self interested and self involved. I responded thusly. Modern alienation has erased the fact that we are all connected to one another from the public consciousness. One can also say that this fact is intentionally encouraged by the powers that be to be widely neglected . Lincoln said it best, a house divided cannot stand. Heres what I said to her. As you may not know, I am a Zen Buddhist. It is said that Buddhism exists and operates on a tip of a wish. If thats so, heres my wish for you: May you be free from stress May you be free from anxiety May you be free from fear May you be free from ignorance May you be free from suffering and all the causes of suffering May you be happy and have all the causes of happiness May you know joy, a joy so expressable and have all the causes of joy May you be well and may all be well with you.
