I completely agree that the Fox News interview with author Reza Aslan was a clinic in emotional banter instead of logical, objective journalism. I, for the record, will not defend any media outlet. What is MUCH more interesting though are the lies Aslan passes off as ‘facts’………….. [I am an expert with a Ph.D. in the history of religions] Not True………He attained Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2009 [I am a professor of religions] Not True……..He is an associate professor in the Creative Writing program at the University of California, Riverside, his 2002 Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from the University of Iowa is his relevant academic credential. By the way, to be considered an ‘expert’ in any field of research or science you must be highly decorated by being published, repeatedly……….by respected, peer reviewed ACADEMIC journals……..not Random House Publishing who’s in business to build hype and sell books. Experts don’t ordain themselves, they are given that title by their peers. If Aslan believes he is an expert in religious studies amongst his academic peers, he is profusely delusional.
