I completely disagree with this analysis of judo takedowns. The plane theory is more suitable for describing sweeps from the ground. The most important aspect of Judo is Kazushi or Off Balanceing, which was completely omitted from this analysis. They talk about footwork, but anyone who has any success using Judo to secure a take down will know that most of the work is done with your hands to off balance your opponent. Hips and foot work are only the icing on the cake. This analysis must have been done by a jiu jitsu practitioner who does not have a very good understanding of how Judo works. I will say that it is exactly how sweeps from the ground work. They just applied the theory to the wrong move. If they made another analysis and applied it to SWEEPS. They would be correct.
