I completely understand the idea of serving and protecting a community. I wonder what our followers think about the way the police are used as a catch-all in minor normal human disputes that have little or no potential for legal action. Calling the cops because you dont know what else to do, or because your neighbor planted a bush on the wrong side of a disputed property line or because your 7 year old refuses to eat their broccoli or to get dressed for school or, god forbid, your new boyfriends baby mama posted on Facebook that you are a skanky ass ho is a huge frustration for many in law enforcement that I know personally. Is our society becoming increasingly unable to deal with the normal frustrations of life? Is a good part of this because the Big Nanny State fixes every other problem people have...so, duh, they ought to respond to, and mediate the disputes caused by your pet peeves too?--AD
