I composed this poem some months back in this group. i revised it for delivery by a 6-year old pupil of mine at the Graduation Rites and Closing Program last March 21, 2014. i must say it was so nice to hear one of my poems being delivered to a vast audience. of course i trained her and five other kids as well who had different speeches altogether.. VALEDICTORY ADDRESS As if it was that I recall My first day I was in school I stepped inside while tears did fall As if it was that I recall. I looked around with dread and all Crying, bawling must be the rule As if it was that I recall My first day I was in school. Days became weeks have come to pass The school’s a place for kids like me We learn, we sing, we dance in class. Days became weeks have come to pass. What could I say about my school? This is the place I want to be I realized there’s nothing as cool What could I say about my school? Months became years have flown so fast! I learned so much unwittingly Every moment the school’s a blast! Months became years have flown so fast. I feared my number days are cast I have to move to elementary! Months and years have flown so fast I learned so much unwittingly. Finally it’s graduation time A time to be happy and sad Happy we were in any clime Finally it’s graduation time. I say to you my saddest rhymes The thought to go makes me feel bad Finally it’s graduation time A time to be happy and sad. My Alma Mater soon to be My first school I so dearly love I bid farewell though it hurts me My Alma Mater soon to be. This honor I achieved I want to share To papa and mama and to GOD above Mama and papa for all your care Thank you! Thank you! I so dearly love.
