I confess, Im anti-homework for elementary school. Even required - TopicsExpress

I confess, Im anti-homework for elementary school. Even required reading. One of the biggest mistakes I feel we have made in our childrens education was making homework a big deal during our time in public school (2nd grade homework was a 2 hour ordeal) and a homeschool program or two. Our two eldest still deal with the negative attitudes that created. But Lollie, who was spared that, enjoys doing her own research, writing, and reading, even math, just because of her natural interest. As weve experienced a true paradigm shift in how we view and approach education, we have seen the pay-offs and it is totally worth it. No pressure introduction to reading, a relaxed start to math, and encouraging our childrens natural interests and curiosity has not only been more fun but has paid off with avid readers, little researchers, prolific writers, and math curious kiddos.
