I confess that I am a habitual voter; I vote usually for the most - TopicsExpress

I confess that I am a habitual voter; I vote usually for the most progressive, liberal candidate. I dont believe in coddling the lazy; but I believe most poor people are not lazy, they need help. I believe government is the best tool for society to fulfill its promise for the protection of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I vote following my conscience, and it kills me to see that we have just had an election where 30% of the people will decide what 100% will get. And they elected the same kinds of people who gave us the Middle East debacle, who would take healthcare away from the needy, who gave us the financial crisis, who wont fix immigration policy, who deny science and evolution and global climate change, who would turn back civil rights for gays, and curtail voting rights for minorities, who deny womens reproductive rights, who will not do anything to diminish gun violence by advocating gun control, who would deny the sick the chance to use medical marihuana. Sometimes I vote for the least bad, if there is little choice. But I prefer to cast a write in for Mickey Mouse than not vote. Educate yourself and vote...If you dont vote, you cant whine. Yes, we need campaign finance reform and overturn Citizens United, but we wont get it if we dont vote. Dont vote and billionaires and corporations will soon rule. And they wont care about your interests, only theirs.
