I consider Mars One mision probably most relevant & beneficial for humanity in our centiry. Most of all I like about this plan - is that Mars One isnt attached to any state, but explains, that such large-scale efforts as colonisation of other planets can be acomplished only by efforts of ENTIRE humanity without borders, and the group flying to settle Mars will be as diverse as possible, equal male & female, all people from different continents, people will be of different skin color. They also try to provide public feedback, be as horizontal & distributed as possible from knowledge they currently have. When we flew to moon, we had great cultural renessance & technological advancements, that made abundance, research & creative challendges for everyone, as TVP described, possible from 70s. Now, performing & broadcasting Mars One mission, humanity will realise, that there are things much more important, than comfort & high standard of living. What is really relevant, is our long-term survival as speciece, which is based on terraforming & full-scale inhabiting of other planets - because stars born, live and die like people. But we will be unable to terraform & inhabit other planets, until most humanitys potential & resources are wasted for short-term profit of few, until we achieve RBE...
