I consider it a great disservice if I keep quiet at the raging insults being heaped on the Ekiti people by self-righteous hypocrites who sulk from their unfortunate ancestry other than the great flowing Ekiti blood. Over the centuries, Ekiti have always shown she is a land of great honour and leadership, she had led wars that liberated Yoruba land from the shackles of oppressors and she has received great applauses for this feat, I wonder why these insults just because she repeated what she is known for liberating from oppressors. Say what you may, Ekiti will not shy away from being the experiment for a creating a better society for the living, her sociological assemblage is second to none, she remains the only society in these parts with a monotonous language and dialect and as such what do you expect from a people who speak with one voice? In the course of her history, Ekiti has continually shown shes a trail blazer in her quest for excellence and one of such is the recent election which has been adjudged unprecedented in the annals of election history in Nigeria. since June 21, certain characters have in the spirit of sour loser continued too heap insults calling Ekiti all sorts of names bordering on insults depicting the Ekiti as alatenujes or awon omo oju o rola ris. Let it be known that Ekiti got a better deal under the administration of Engr. Segun Oni who was accused by the APC of being a poll robber but was later to be celebrated by the same people when he ported to their side so when people talk of development in Ekiti by Dr. Fayemi, I laugh, please dont get me wrong, Dr. Fayemi did his best but it is a known fact that no one can do better than his best per time so he did his best as he could. In defense of Ayodele Fayose, who claims rightly to be the architect of modern Ekiti, Fayose opened up the state and actually made it attractive to some Lagos elites whose initial interest was to prevent him from riding on his populist programs for a second term hence the devious machinations leading to his removal through an inconclusive impeachment process, this led the Federal government to besiege our state with an undeserved state of emergency. The state of emergency festered the desire of the elite who was okay with anything as long as it wasn’t Fayose. Then came the most civil and achieving administration under the slow but steady leadership of Engr. Segun Oni who quietly returned the dignity of the Ekiti people after a riotous media blitz orchestrated just for the removal of the then common enemy of the elite called Ayodele Fayose, a man later discovered by those who are based outside Ekiti but who had relied solely on the stringed tales fed by the media to be just the opposite of what he was painted. Anyway, the same elite could not agree amongst themselves on who to lead them hence a long and protracted legal battle which culminated in the removal of one of their own, through a historic but highly controversial partisan judgment from the Court of Appeal popularly known as the the Salamic judgment after the erstwhile jurist and PCA who despite protest from the defendant in the case against his convivial relationship with the appellant still delivered the last landmark of his jusristic career. That judgment brought in the Dr. Kayode Fayemi administration who rode into governance on the back of what could be termed the greatest media campaign ever in the political history of Nigeria, his was a ride that beclouded the reality of the situation in the land of Honour, the jubilation that greeted his ascension was unprecedented as people were weary of the media condemned administration of Engr. Oni who the media relegated to a criminal and echoed across the world through coordinated lies and various maligned concoctions, so in comes the one to be known as Ilufemiloye (the one desired by the people) he came in amidst huge pomp and like a writer observed, the pomp that greeted his arrival became his undoing as he seemed never to have recovered from the glitz. Throughout his tenure there are famed development called physical infrastructure in the state which to the resident of the state in nonexistence but to the outside world a plus. A look at some of these “projects” show they are all on paper and this is a challenge to the administration to publish these projects, those that actually took off were a colossal drain on the commonwealth of the people a commonwealth our dear governor borrowed, it is still a wonder why and how a forward looking person will borrow to beautify the capital town of Ado where what obtains are the paved walkways and grasses in place of flowers, constructing a new governor’s lodge on the highest hill in the town thus planning on overlooking his subjects, building a pavilion that is expected to take 10,000 people, a civic center while neglecting the creation of jobs, it is a considered opinion that had he continued the economic plans of the Oni administration, he would by now have created not less than 500,000 direct and indirect jobs across the state in both the formal and informal sectors. But he chose to deride the Oni administration by first declaring the man was never governor therefore his administration never existed and for that purpose, cancelled the various projects on going at the time of his assumption of office, such as the Cuban eye “miracle” center which would have turned Ekiti into the mecca for eye related medical issues within 3 years, the schools enterprise scheme where each secondary school with boarding facilities were already into one commercial enterprise or the other e.g., his alma mater, the Christ School was into bakery products and were already supplying bread to the surrounding communities in Ado before the advent of Dr. Fayemi. Said and done, Mr. Governor saw himself above his people, he chose to appoint people from outside Ekiti some of whom are even said to be non-Nigerians while the Nigerians amongst them came to rob us blind, one of such is my own dear Sister, Sola Salako who by her own accounts recently stated that she was appointed on a N800k per month ‘allowance’ with free accommodation in the government house to oversee and supervise the installation of new equipment bought and already paid for by the Oni administration at the broadcasting service and this she did for 8 good months, now the bad is that Sola is not a broadcaster but a PR practitioner and consultant from Lagos, she it was who also arranged the famous laptops for teachers, sold compulsorily at cut throat price much more than the cost in the open market to the teachers who were about the same time being made to pay extra taxes from a reduced take home pay. Many examples abound and so the people made up their minds to oust the oppressor of their souls, the Debtor General of the Federation a man who borrowed money only to fritter same on frivolities. To the self-righteous hypocrites who could not spare enough time to register to vote for their man but who suddenly developed the courage to insult my people calling them hungry people who sold their rights for rice, has it ever occurred to you that a man who is not hungry cannot be enticed with food? Do you realize that a swimming pool and a high rise building means nothing to a hungry man, Have you ever experienced deprivation in the midst of plenty before? I encourage you all to continue to abuse us, yes we agree we are hungry people and our hunger has marked us out as a different people a pacesetter in the realization of the new order, a people who rose up with just one voice to say FAYEMI MUST GO and guess what? We sent him off and as a man who knew when he’s beaten, he retreated and conceded but you hungry lot who have been feeding fat on the commonwealth of my people will not let off knowing the cow is no more available for your selfish milking. Yes we are proudly Ekiti, the land of Honour where we take no nonsense. It is amazing that from all accounts I have read so far not one person who participated in that election exercise has written a single negative word about the election, all we have read have been from the abelejayans who won’t mind their business, people who ought but failed to be on ground for their man rather preferring to remain in their comfort zones campaigning vigorously on the virtual space while the real people were on ground moving from house to house to campaign. And for those who say PDP won because of the bags of rice, please what do you say to the above picture, it’s a decorated bag of same rice though with lesser content but equally distributed to the people by your choice party the APC as you can see from the sign off on the bags. So on this note I advise, go back to your tents and tell yourselves the truth, you are losers and so shall you remain but in the meantime please keep heaping those grammatical words on my people we are ok with your loss anyhow. At least the loss of the APC in Ekiti is already spelling good tiding to the other oppressed people of the South West, now Salaries and emoluments are being paid in droves, welfare packages have continued to roll in, Physical infrastructure are giving way to stomach infrastructure, Aregbe has even suspended taxes till after elections while schools is planned to be returned to original owners. We are ever proudly EKITI the people who got liberation through stomach infrastructure.
