I could be a movie extra today...interesting! Bedford Bearcat Stadium was selected as the backdrop for several scenes in a movie that is currently being shot in Northeast Ohio. Independent filmmaker Racer Films and MadWerks Studios are producing a feature-length film called #50 Fathers that is slated for a theatrical release in 2015. The Bearcat football team will also be featured and highlighted in the film, as the lead character, Dominique (“Nique”) Ramon Hathaway, will portray a football player. Scenes were shot in the stadium building training room, weightlifting room and on the field while the Bearcats practiced. B-roll will also be shot at the Bedford vs. Maple Hts. game tomorrow. (So if you want the chance to have the camera catch you in the act of cheering on the Bearcats, you have to come to the game!) Story line: The film is a dramatic comedy that features Nique, a three-sport athlete who is a sure-fire top-five draft pick in the NFL or MLB straight out of high school. He decides that when he makes it big, he wants to give his little brother and himself something they’ve never had, a father. He posts a YouTube video saying that after he signs a professional contract, he will pay $10,000 per month for an individual to serve as his father. He and his friends then interview 50 potential fathers throughout the Fall—some good, some hilariously bad. In the end, they discover that what makes a man a good father is much different than what they had imagined. The production team also interviewed Bearcat head football Coach Sean Williams while filming at the stadium. They plan to use this clip at the end of the film, in order to give Bedford Schools some credit for allowing them to use their facilities.
