I could never get into anime sadly. They always have something combination of things from this list: 1) All the main characters look the most attractive, have the most charisma or other overused superficial like cuteness, badassery, or attractive average Joe likability. I love when theres a PSYCHOLOGICALLY interesting character you can actually remember the backstory to. And no, his family died and father sacrificed himself to spare him and he lives on with tremendous guilt is not interesting. 2) They rely too much on death to make you feel for the characters. Theres too much of it and its often extreme or exaggerated in performance. Death by assassin, monsters, soul-stealer, fire, other killer. Not as much cancer, heart attacks, It feels like the deaths are, to the exact contrary of what writers are trying to pull off, devalued by their extremity and frequency. Also by the fact that many people who watch anime cant comprehend the gravity of loss, not even the writers. They often fail to make their own characters react with realistic mental illness. 3) Rampant implied pedophilia. Too many schoolgirls, female characters with high pitched baby voices, and both male and female characters that look like teenagers when theyre supposed to be 30+ or heck thousands of years old. It feels like the writers are attracting viewers in an unsavory way that I just cant watch. 4) Magic stuff thats never explained and or makes no sense. Its just plot holes, writers being too cheap. What gets me is that while normal plot holes are criticized, lack of consistency and logic involving a major magical plot device is acceptable because it is magic. Oh, its not supposed to be explained. Eh? You either have to explain it or demonstrate it in the show with consistency. If a character has both wind and fire magic, there needs to be some kind of hint as to why they have those particular powers. Random major stuff like that is a plot hole. Not all are like this but Ive yet to find an anime without at least one of these that prevents me from watching. I couldnt even get through Sgt. Frog, which I loved, because of the pedophilia implication thing. Lol I wish I liked anime more D=
