I couldnt agree more with the Land Trust! Many of us have pets we dearly love & loss would be devastating. With development replacing more and more of our natural area habitats, drought, etc, urban wildlife is here to stay. Learning as much as possible about our wild neighbors plus methods of co-existing & protecting our pets is a must. I must admit Ive learned a few things the past few days. Here is a good link adoptapet/blog/keep-your-pets-safe-from-coyotes/ packed with tips helpful for all communities in addition to those around our wetlands, pets and our wild neighbors. But a word on brushy removal as you may have seen in recent news, this really refers (or should refer to) your yards, trimming landscaping to not create coyote hiding places, that expert recommendation was never really intended for our natural open areas as this would impact non pet threatening species.
