I couldnt be happier for -- or prouder of -- young Chloe Brooks, - TopicsExpress

I couldnt be happier for -- or prouder of -- young Chloe Brooks, one of the best younger actresses Ive ever worked with, and a very nice young woman, to boot. Shes just been accepted into Harvard University, and they will be lucky to have her. I gave her the strongest possible letter of recommendation. A terrific natural talent. Shes played Fanny Brice for me on stage in New York, and Ive enjoyed watching her play that role, over and over. Shes self-taught; her work is from the heart, and she gives her all; my favorite kind of performer. Shes not on Facebook--between acting and singing, and maintaining an honors academic record at a top high school, she doesnt have much free time. But she can sure light up a stage. When she first came to audition for me, at age 15, I was so stunned by her work, I brought Edith OHara, who runs the 13th Street Repertory Theater, in to hear her, too. And Edith, whos up in her 90s and has seen countless performers, recognized at once she had something special, and wed better find things for her to do. Shes been a terrific Fanny Brice for me, and has done readings for me, and added life to A Christmas Carol at the theater, too--all while getting up each morning at 6 am to go to high school. Keep breaking legs, Chloe! (Photo by the great Jonathan M. Smith.) Happy to share this good news with everyone, especially director Rachel Hundert and stage-manager Kate Solomon-Tilley.
