I couldnt believe who I was sharing the platform with for a Q&A session at this weekends conference. Msgr. Charles Pope!! His blog posts have been in my inbox everyday for a long time. I didnt know he was such a music lover and he even got a bunch of my CDs. He especially liked the sung Rosary and Anima Christi. Msgr. Popes topic for Sundays blog was on the power of music. Heres a brief quote: With humility I have also learned that though I may preach boldly, it is often the choirs sung response that makes the thought catch fire. I have learned to link what I preach to what is sung and work carefully with the choir and musicians. For while the spoken word may inform and even energize, the sung word strikes even deeper, engraving the word not only in the mind, but touching the deepest parts of the heart. I dont know how he had the energy. I was completely spent after the weekend. He says so eloquently what Ive always thought about the power of music. I hope you get to read his post. On another thought... Ive got 5 truly awesome songs so far for the Marian CD Im working on. I go into the studio to record the vocals on July 31st.
