I couldnt help but wonder how long Northland Mall would survive - TopicsExpress

I couldnt help but wonder how long Northland Mall would survive after the death of Mr. Mackenzie Cochran who lost his life inside the mall last year after being asphyxiated by mall security officers. Reports today indicated that last two strongholds Targets and Macys will be closing their doors by spring 2015. I encountered numerous people who swore they would never shop in the mall again until the mall cops were brought to justice. However, Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper couldnt or refused to find compelling evidence to bring charges against the mall cops. Sound familiar? So much for justice. Too bad to because Ottos is in the mall and Ive always loved their popcorn. The last time I was in Northland, it was a mere shadow of its former heyday. I remember the mall before it was enclosed. All us fellas, Freddie, Butch, Mike, John and myself hung out there all the time. Wed buy those $5.00 jeans at Berserks eat at the Pancake House and spend countless hours chasing girls. Man…it was an innocent time. No bullies picking fights and a great place to hook up with friends. But things changed about 10 years ago. Hoodlums were common place, and so were the fights. J.C. Penney pulled up stakes and no other retailer has occupied the space since. Sadly Greenfield Road fell into serious disrepair about a year ago rendering motorists weary of traveling the pothole riddled thoroughfare between Eight and Nine Mile Roads. Target announced today it will be closing its doors next month and alas, Macys the anchor store will follow shortly thereafter. So there was no justice for Mr. Cochran or was there? Could it be his blood cries out from beyond the grave strangling the very life out of what was once the nations first suburban mall? So long Northland I had fun growing up inside those walls.
