I couldnt sleep tonight without thinking about the brutal murder of aid worker Alan Henning by the evil group called ISIS- there is nothing Islamic about murder and to do so on the eve of Eid proves these are nothing but degenerate thugs. Infact this sort of behaviour has been warned and prohibited countless times: Quran 5:32 “…if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.” Quran 5:2 Do not let your hatred of a people incite you to aggression. Quran 16:90 God commands justice and doing good and giving to relatives. And He forbids indecency and doing wrong and tyranny. He warns you so that hopefully you will pay heed. Sadly the reality is, for as long as mankind has existed, we have struggled with a darkness we carry in our hearts- some use any ideology to carry out their inner bloodlust & need for further power. Irrespective of whether they are wearing balaclavas in the desert or a suit on TV we must recognise & speak out against these people so their rise to power does not go unchallenged. We are an insignificant existence on a tiny planet in the vast universe, living a life which is equivalent to a blip in time. In 100 years from now we will be nothing but dust and memories- power does not last but a legacy does, so lets leave one of kindness & goodwill toward each other. Tomorrow my Eid prayer will be for Alan Henning, his family and all those families who have been (& are still) affected by war. Salaam
