I couldnt tell at first reading! This is what it means: In order for a bill to be brought up for vote by the Senate, it must first be voted out of committee. We are waiting for more information as to where this bill goes next. It may go to another Senate committee before it is brought up for vote in front of the entire Senate. AND: California rewrote Prop 37 to make it a stronger law, and then re-introduced it as SB 1381. This time, instead of a ballot initiative, California legislators will determine the fate of the bill. It starts with a committee. Today, the Senate Health Committee voted 5-2 to move it forward. For it to pass, there will be other votes, including, at the very least, the full Senate and the California House of Representatives, and most likely, at least one more committee vote. Then it would need to be signed by the governor. (Every state is a little different, but that is what I would expect, at least. Others may correct me if Im wrong.) If California, who has the strictest environmental regulations in the nation, can pass this, it will be great news for all of us. Have you seen paint containers, and other chemical containers, that say something about it containing chemicals that have to be labeled to conform to CAs regulations? Thats because CA is so large, it isnt worth it for companies to label just for them; we all get the same label. Can you imagine what will happen if the GMA has to label for CA?
