I cried when I heard about the passing of Tito Mars from a post by - TopicsExpress

I cried when I heard about the passing of Tito Mars from a post by Toym this morning. He was among the first people who I “consulted” with regard to the TV show in 2008. He encouraged it of course and this served me well when the going got tough, which had been many. I would bump into him and Tita Grace later in gatherings. Tita Grace and I would chika, and he would quizzically look at me. I would remind him that I used to visit him in their Marikina house and add that I am the matakaw one only because Tita Grace prepared delicious fares. He would recall by giving a knowing nod. A visual artist asked if I am related to them because I call them “Tito” and “Tita” when we were talking about the wake of Tita Grace. I said I was not and that I am just “nakiki-kamag-anak lang”. During the launch of the TV show in 2012, Tito Mars and Tita Grace did not attend a Malacanang affair just so they could attend our small event. And they had to endure five hours of traffic to get to the launch. Greatness, to me, is measured by how one has affected the lives of others in this space between death and birth, and not by the “marks” or recognition although Tito Mars had them anyways. It is likewise okay to feel sad or cry about his passing because it only goes to show that he has positively affected my life. Paalam Tito Mars at maraming maraming salamat.
