I criticised Yvette Cooper MPs email and survey last week when I first received it. When this country needs a Labour government so desperately it is utterly depressing to see that almost everything that is done centrally is spectacularly incompetent. Tom Watson agrees with the premise of this article, but thinks it is OTT. Im not so sure it is OTT. Id struggle to think of many Labour communication successes, yet the gaffes are legion. For 25+ years Ive been instinctively a loyalist under Kinnock, Smith, Blair and even Brown who I respected very much as a talented politician and excellent chancellor, just not as a leader where he was worse than hopeless. That loyalty is now at breaking point as Im at a total loss as to what I can do as an individual member to help Labour win. Every door I knock on, every leaflet I deliver, every campaign I run is being undermined by an out of touch leader and chaotic campaign. I can now begin to understand how undermined so many Liberal Democrats on the ground must feel.
