I deactivated my Pinterest account! It had been bugging me for a while. I am working towards 100% copyright infringement free! Working towards means I am not alway sure if I am following the rules. So I need to educate myself on the rules. It is all out there! I have seen a bunch of photographers use screen saver sights to get their cool backgrounds to place there brides and grooms in composites. But these locations have a terms against that. I read Photo Steelers. I get the only music I use for all my business at Triple Scoop Music, the legal way. Still I am on a hunt for ways I am not doing it right. Without really thinking, a while back I made a replica of a shot I had grabbed on Pinterest that interested me. I tell photographers to ‘Never copy, look within yourself for a style and don’t look at others to find it’. But then I fell back and perfectly copied this one image. Dang it! Only when it was pointed out to me that I copied did I really realize what I had done: broken my own law. I deleted the shot. Then I went back and actually found a shot in the same lighting scenario done just before the copied shot that was just great. My own shot. My own style. Not copied form someone elses concept. Of course you may accidentally copy a shot you have never seen. But that shot I copied was in my Pinterest boards. I knew it well. I have been influenced in a good way to images I collected on my boards and as you can hear from me, also in an unproductive way. Hey, we all learn from our mistakes. I deactivated my Pinterest account!
