I decided that the whole family move to KL at the end of 1970. I bought a double storey terrace house in Kajang Garden in 1968 on Malayan Borneo Building Society housing loan. It was rented to a Kajang High School teacher. At first we thought that my wife and children would stay in the house while I commute to KL daily. On second thought we saw it more practical for all of us to locate to KL. My wife Leong Poh Choon put in her application of transfer to KL. Then the children, Oi Thian Soo and Oi Suan Kim and Oi Suan Gaik had to put in transfers to schools in KL. Leong Poh Choon asked for Cochrane Road Secondary School. The three girls requested for Peel Road Convent Primary School. Now I looked for a house to rent. Bolton Garden housing estate was being built in its early stage. Three rows of shop houses were first built with double and single storeys houses around the shops. It was a rubber estate before at 4th Mile Cheras Road, KL. Some new double storey houses on Jalan Midah 9 were just completed. I had a look at these new houses. A man was busy washing one of these houses and on enquiry, he said it was for rent. That is how we landed in this place to be called Taman Midah. This was the decision of the Selangor State Government after the May 13th 1969. A lorry was rented to move our personal effects from Kajang to the rented house in Taman Midah at the end of December, 1970. My wife was transfer to Cochrane Rd Sec School and the son to Pasar Road Primary 1, the two girls to Bukit Bintang Primary 1. June Oi Suan Cheng stayed with my parents in Kg Tengku where she attended kindergarden for a year before joining the sister in BBGS. The school term started on 2nd January, 1971. We left the house at 6.30am, dropping off wife at Cochrane Road, then the son at Pasar Road, the two girls in Bukit Bintang Road before I head for San Peng Road. After school at 1pm, I will pick them up in the reverse order. It had been raining heavily in the last few days. Many places were flooded in KL. The Selangor Club padang was covered in a few feet of water with the underground car park full of water. So no school for the next few days. San Peng Road School was not affected but was informed that it could be used to house flooded victims. What a start to life in January, 1971.
