I decided to have a bath tonight. I filled it up, poured in lavender oil, added epsom salts and got in. The water was tepid. I grumbled a bit while I washed my face and let my hair dabble in it, before I decided it was far too lukewarm to stay in. Our water runs on electric, so I got out the bath and dried my hands to go and see what was wrong with it. I hadnt finished mermaiding, so I wanted to make the water hot enough. It never really occurred to me that the rest of me was still wet or to remember electricity licks its lips when it gets near water. I unplugged the emersion heater, then plugged it back in. Which is when it bit me. It was vicious. Ive never had a proper electric shock before. Ive had tiny tiny ones, but this one was feisty. It went straight up my arm which is a weird sensation in itself and I realise I was so very lucky it wasnt worse. That was about an hour ago now and Im still feeling pretty odd. Not as odd as I did though and I have tea, so it is all alright. My lovely dad is dealing with it by being really cross. He keeps telling me I could have killed myself. I like to think he is exaggerating but I will never be so bloody stupid again. Promise. I want you to be careful too. Both my parents have just told similar electric shock stories so clearly we are either three numpties (possible) , or it is just easy to forget how serious electricity can be. I love you a lot, and I am so proud to be part of our clan. I consider you to be family, and we are related by lots of good things. Such as cake... I mean camaraderie. (cake too though ;) ) xxxxxxxxxxxx
