I decided tonight that Jer and I would make perfect restaurant reviewers, with a kind of him/her perspective, and an aged hippie viewpoint. We thought first aging hippie, but realized that we probably have to upgrade that to aged. Ambience: noise and wait-time and patience of wait staff with shouting to be heard by aged ears. Food: Him: how greasy (doesnt like)? How cleanly presented? Anyone with a cough, slight or otherwise, on the staff? Her: How greasy (loves); Do the seats prevent a shorter torso with certain liabilities?; how cute is the wait staff (male and female)?; how responsive are they to aged hippies? Oh, and the food? The Observatory in Montavilla, is, generally speaking, quite good. The ceviche is better than the Hawthorne Fish Houses, and the fried bread, while it lacked powdered sugar and the certain puffiness of the Iowa (or you-name-it) State Fair, had what seemed like the most satisfying ranch dressing to be dipped into. On the whole, a most satisfying place to eat on a mild, busy Sunday evening in Montavilla. He: Yum.
