I designed a permaculture chicken run and am finishing it up. Here is a diagram. Eventually, the blackberries will grow all along the perimeter. They are a thorny variety for protection. The concord grape will be trained to grow over the top providing shade. The chickens will fertilize the peach and keep the borers away. The beans and cucumbers are a fill in until things grow in. It is constructed of wire mesh buried along the perimeter, metal fence stakes with wire mesh covering, electrical conduit secured to the wall and the metal fence stakes with wire mesh over that to support the grapes. The grapes will be high enough so that the chickens cannot eat them, but hang down into the coop through the mesh to protect from birds. When I have the top mesh on, Ill show some pictures.
