I despise establiments of any kind, from the old boys network, state religion, private education as feeders to the top universities, to little cliques, where you are only as popular, only get on and are only accepted if you play the game. Speak your mind, exercise your free will, free spirit and soon you find yourself isolated. ...That said, I have always kept myself at arms length from groups and cliques of any kind, draw back if I feel I am becoming part of one, or try something different to show I am not part of an established set of ideas about what constitutes art, or intellectual thought. Because when people get too close to an ideal and too wrapped up in the people and organization they have become part of - so that it feels like an extension of themselves... that is when they start to lose focus: the thing itself becomes what is important and must be protected from outsiders who threaten the established order of things. I have been thinking about setting up a group you see, an artists group here on Facebook, but as for running it, controlling it and its members by my iron fist as leader... the idea fills me with dread. I cant even, and dont want to, lead myself, let alone anything or anyone else. So, how to set up a group of freespirits, artist, thinkers, all so very different from one another... now thats a trick. Im working on it.
